How Does A Pool Enclosure Protect Your Pool?
Whether it’s keeping your pool clean or safeguarding from strong winds, here are some of the key ways pool enclosures go above and beyond protecting your pool.
Protect your pool from debris
One of the most obvious benefits you will see right away with a pool enclosure is its ability to protect your pool from debris. This includes leaves, small insects, and other types of debris. A pool enclosure stops these from getting into the water, keeping it clean and saving you lots of time and effort regularly having to maintain your pool.
Protect your pool from wind
Keeping your pool heated is necessary for you to be able to enjoy it year-round, however, this can quickly add up in heating bills. A pool enclosure helps entrap heat from sunlight, but can also keep your pool warm by protecting it from the wind. Wind often goes unnoticed as a major heat thief for your pool by disturbing the surface of the water and allowing heat to escape. A pool enclosure prevents this and ensures any warmth isn’t lost to the wind!
Wind can also blow in unwanted debris and dirt cluttering and damaging your pool. Stopping this makes your pool enclosure even more effective in maintaining and protecting your pool, saving you precious time spent cleaning your swimming pool.
Protect your pool from sunlight
It might seem counterintuitive to protect your pool from sunlight, as it is one of the best (and most cost-effective) ways to keep your pool warm and enjoyable. But, just like how we need sunscreen to protect our skin from excessive exposure to sunlight, your pool needs a layer of protection as well.
Whilst sunlight is great at keeping water warm during those hot summer days, too much sunlight begins breaking down the amount of free chlorine in your pool. This is the chlorine that is ‘free’ to neutralise contaminants and bacteria, and is necessary to keep your pool clean and usable. It is estimated that, on particularly sunny days, sunlight can reduce the amount of free chlorine in your pool by up to 90% in just 2 hours!
This means you have to spend more time monitoring and topping up your pool’s chemical levels throughout the day just to keep it clean. Just like how a pool enclosure protects you from harmful UV rays when swimming, it also protects the water whilst still letting the heat transfer through and keep your pool nice and warm.
